Downtown, the Place to Play

Downtown Atlanta is the place where the world comes to do business, to meet and to recreate.

CNN Center is the hub of international business in Downtown Atlanta. The center houses the headquarters of the 24-hour Cable News Network founded by Ted Turner. Philips Arena in CNN Center is the home of the Atlanta Hawks and the Atlanta Dream. However, rental space is also available for private parties and functions.

The Georgia State Capitol, City Hall, Fulton County Government Center as well as federal buildings are all located in Downtown Atlanta.

Retail buyers and wholesalers journey to AmericasMart, blocks from CNN Center, to purchase apparel, gifts, home accents, home furnishings and rugs to sell in their stores. Peachtree Center is a must visit Downtown destinations for Atlanta visitors who love to shop.

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium is the home of the Atlanta Falcons and the venue of the annual SEC Championship Football Game. The Dome has also hosted two Super Bowl Games and been a venue for Billy Graham Crusades. For several years, the Georgia Dome, Georgia World Congress Center and CNN Center were also venues for Bishop T. D. Jakes' annual Mega-Fest Festival.

In 1996, sports teams from around the world met at what was then Centennial Olympic Stadium (now Center Parc Stadium) for the opening ceremy of the Games of the XXVI Olympiad. The Olympic Cauldron still stands outside Turner Field as a memento of the 1996 Summer Olympics of Atlanta. Centennial Olympic Park is now a Downtown green space gathering place for seasonal celebrations, concerts and movies.
